How Secure is Your ELD?
FMCSA said, “Security on mobile devices is well understood. Banks, governments, and retailers all provide apps which require security. There is no reason to believe that consumer mobile devices cannot be an adequate platform for ELDs. FMCSA believes the specifications and privacy standards and protocols are sufficient to respond to reasonable concerns about hackers.”

FMCSA Publishes ELD Waiver for Rental Trucks
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration published in the Federal Register the waiver the Truck Renting and Leasing Association requested for short-term rental trucks. This 90-day waiver from the electronic logging device mandate runs from Jan. 19, 2018, until April 19, 2018.
